How many bookmarked sites do you have? Duplicate links? Any broken links? Are they all pointing to what you originally bookmarked? I've got rather a lot of bookmarks (1471, I discovered this afternoon) and it would take me quite some time to manually check them all.

Step up, AM-Deadlink. A very nice little app that once pointed at your bookmark file will test all your bookmarks for you to check they're still live, download the site's favicon if it has one, and help you weed out duplicate links, and generally get your bookmarks in order. There's a nice tutorial on it, complete with screenshots on TechRepublic which explains the process, step by step.

I use the Foxmarks Firefox extension to keep my bookmarks syncronised between my laptop and my PC (which also means that thanks to Foxmarks I can also access my entire bookmark list from any PC with an internet connection), and now I can keep them all nice and neat and tidy as well! I am indeed a happy bunny.  G.T.'s nod smiley

(Btw, my bookmark list's now down to 1371 after I weeded out the dead links and duplicates G.T.'s wink smiley)

Now this may sound silly - but cleaning up those bookmarks has sped my broadband connection speed immeasurably!

I use Netvous (very similar) for mine, but I always find it's a PITA remembering to bookmark them *and* save to Netvous as well. With Foxmarks I can keep them synchronised between both computers and access them from anywhere. I've always found with Netvous that although it does flag up potentially dead links I ended up with things saved in totally different categories than I'd got on the computers so I could still never find stuff G.T.'s giggle smiley

One of the things I've been meaning to do is try and get my bookmark folders organised a little better and then wipe what I've currently got on Netvous and replace it with the nice neat version, which I can then put a link to in my various forum sigs so I can share my bookmarking obsession with the rest of the world.  G.T.'s giggle smiley
