Just found this useful Firefox extension today - Errorzilla:

Quote
Implements a useful error page when a website cannot be reached. Will add "Try Again," "Google Cache," "Coralize," "Wayback," "Ping," "Trace," and "Whois" buttons, along with the Firefox logo to the error page when a website isn't found or a web server is down.

Nice one FA, but what exactly is Coralize supposed to do? Is it a paid service?

Anyone can create a usable website. It takes a graphic designer to make it slow, confusing, and painful to use.

I just followed that link and it took me ages to realise what it was about even then.

Content distribution network???

What a load of old cobblers, if you haven't got your own original content to put on a website don't bother to build one!  If you build one and then pad it out with a load of old stuff from someone else you are just trying to raise advertising revenue, you are not providing the user any sort of service.  These people should be ashamed.  Hanging's too good for them.

Oh.. I've come across quite a few people who build a site purley to put google ads on. There are even people selling content for such sites!

As someone who's built sites purely to provide health info and support, I get rather annoyed by it!  G.T.'s giving it the eye smiley

Erm... haven't you ever heard of Akamai?
They're fortune 500. Yahoo and other companies use them to distribute content so its closer to the end-user and leads to lower latency connections, and less pressure on the main servers.

Corel is just aiming to be an open-source, peer-to-peer CDN. It's the "grassroots" response to Akamai.

Can't afford the $10,000 (?) minimum to open an Akamai accoutn?
Still want to server your users as well as you can?
Then you might upgrade your servers, or you might pick up the Corel CDN.
